Mike Magliocca is an actor and fight director based in New York City. An upcoming graduate of the Brooklyn College MFA class of 2020, he is excited to re-enter the industry with a stronger foundation of training. Mike is a member of Actors Equity Association and holds the rank of Advanced Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) having 9 years of stage combat training, teaching, and fight directing.

 

Most recently, he played Leontes and Stan in his graduate school productions of The Winter’s Tale and Sweat, and regionally at Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in their productions of Richard III and Coriolanus. Other recent acting credits include The History Boys (Palm Beach Dramaworks), Around the World in 80 Days (Florida Repertory Theatre), Young Playwrights Festival (City Theatre), and Romeo and Juliet (Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks). Mike is also a member of Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre and acted as fight and intimacy director for their production of Little Women; you can read his review here.

 

Last summer, Mike worked as 3rd assistant on The Public’s Shakespeare in the Park Coriolanus, as well as Romeo and Juliet with the Powerhouse Training Company. Mike's fight and intimacy direction were showcased in Fernando as part of The New Ohio Theatre's ICE Factory Festival. Other regional fight direction credits: The Argyle Theatre (Peter and the Starcatcher, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), Florida Repertory Theatre (Murder at the Howard Johnson’s, Around the World in 80 Days), Arden Theatre (Apprentice Showcase). University: PACE, Seton Hall, University of Pittsburgh.

 

As a teaching artist, Mike specializes in teaching stage combat and theatrical violence technique. He currently teaches as an adjunct professor at Brooklyn College and an Associate Instructor at Neutral Chaos NYC, a private studio focusing in stage combat and stunts. Mike has also worked as assistant professor of stage combat with Fight Master Michael Chin at PACE University.
